To continue with the robotics theme, I decided to take Applied Robotics (ROB 421) with my friends Nick McComb and Joel Goodman during spring term of the 2017-2018 school year. This is a one term class where you are given a game to play, and have ten weeks to build and program a robot to play it. In this case, the game was catch with both a friendly and adversarial mode. As I had access to a six axis industrial robotic Denso arm from work I could borrow, our team decided to give a go at using it. We have all worked on plenty of custom robotic project before, but none of us had used industrial gear and were excited to see what it was like. Overall, we got third place, which we were all pretty happy with considering how overly complicated we’d made our robot. If you’d like to see more about this project, use the button above to go to our competition team website. This has a week by week breakdown and more videos of the build process and testing that we did.
